Rebecca Minter's Story.

I had twin girls in 2004 and, as anybody with children will know, spent most of my waking hours desperately trying to find something to amuse them. Living in High Wycombe it was quite obvious that there were no activity centres, amazing as High Wycombe is a very large town. It is true that there are others in the area but mostly these were small and unambitious.

I thought that it couldn't be that hard to find a building, borrow the money, know the law, build the centre and open. Others had done it so why not me, and my husband had his company so I wanted mine.

How wrong I was! After three and a half years of hard work, sweat, tears, nice bank managers and a fed up husband, we opened the doors on Jan 8th 2009. Exactly the day the country was officially declared to be in recession. Just two years later we have had over half a million satisfied visitors, presently have 523 annual members and we hosted over 500 parties last year. For those statistics we send out a hearty thanks to the local community who have stuck by us through thick and thin.

We also support three charities and even let a room to one, have an on site design agency, a photographic studio and a Karaoke Disco upstairs. Following suggestions from visitors, we built and outside garden for the summer months, installed CCTV for peace of mind, kept the healthy eating cafe and party menu as it is (including eggs supplied by our very own Playtrain Hens) despite some calls for chips and burgers, expanded the shop, installed lockers, called in face painters, book sellers, jewellery makers and hairdressers.

This year be adding a whole host of stuff and things so keep the suggestions coming.

Not bad for a housewife with 3 kids, two dogs and five chickens!

We are open every day of the year apart from Christmas and Easter Day, that includes all Bank Holidays.

Over the last 3 years Playtrain has become High Wycombe and the surrounding area's premier children's activity centre. We have all that you and your under 8's could need for a few hours of fun, food and entertainment.

We pride ourselves on our fun and friendly atmosphere, our healthy eating cafe and excellent facilities.

We have a super play frame, soft play areas, a healthy food café, a quiet room with library, countless toys, an arts and crafts room, 3 party rooms, luxury toilets, changing facilities, an outdoor fair weather garden, CCTV, ample parking, computer games, free wifi, bouncy bus, air hockey, karaoke, photography studio, visiting entertainers, shop, bubble machine, comfy seating and much, much more...

Over the last three years we have had over half a million satisfied visitors, so a big thank you to everone who has supported Playtrain. We in turn will continue to listen to your suggestions and comments and keep adding more exiting things to do...
